DETROIT, Mich. — Down two goals in the third period, the Detroit Red Wings rallied on Saturday, Oct. 17, and topped San Jose 4-3 in a shootout at home at Little Caesars Arena.

San Jose led 3-1 early in the third. With the Detroit net empty for an extra skater, Alex DeBrincat knocked in his own rebound at 18:27 to tie it 3-3 with 1:33 to go.

Lucas Raymond had the lone goal of the shootout. Detroit had gone 0-for-8 on shootout tries this season before that.

Justin Faulk opened the scoring on a power play in the first period, and Emmitt Finnie finished with a goal and an assist. Moritz Seider logged 29:46 of ice time, the most of any player, and helped kill a San Jose power play in overtime.

Macklin Celebrini scored once and set up two more for the Sharks, and Alex Nedeljkovic, who used to play goal in Detroit, turned aside 24 shots against his old club.

The win moves Detroit to 3-3-2 with points in four straight games. San Jose fell to 4-3-1. The Red Wings had played seven of their first eight games at home and now head out on the road.
