DETROIT, Mich. — Drivers in Detroit, Mich., should plan around a squeeze on eastbound Interstate 94 this week, as state road crews close the right lane between Cecil Street and Livernois Avenue starting at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26.

The Michigan Department of Transportation said the lane stays closed until 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, and the ramps on and off the freeway along that stretch are shut for the same window.

It is one of more than 50 new projects and events statewide set to begin between Sunday and Saturday, Oct. 31, on top of work already underway. MDOT notes all of it depends on the weather, and a mild fall has kept crews busy.

Elsewhere in metro Detroit, the ramp from East Gibraltar Road to northbound I-75 in Wayne County is closed through Tuesday, with a detour that uses southbound I-75 and Huron River Drive. On I-696 between Couzens and South Mound, both left lanes in each direction face rolling, on-and-off closures Monday and Tuesday during a midday window that runs 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

In Macomb County, the left lane of westbound I-94 near M-29 at 23 Mile Road closes Saturday into Sunday, Nov. 1. State officials ask drivers to slow down in work zones, and the full project list is on the MDOT construction map.
