DETROIT, Mich. — A Detroit man who traded shots with federal agents trying to arrest him last fall has admitted to attempted murder, and he now faces at least 17 years behind bars.

Terrance Markyce Davis, 34, of Detroit entered the plea Tuesday in federal court. Besides the attempted murder of ATF special agents, he also pleaded guilty to firearm offenses. The sentence range runs up to life in prison, and his sentencing is set for March 3, 2027.

Court filings describe a stretch from Nov. 5 to Nov. 13, 2025, when Davis shot into homes and cars around Detroit, leaving one person seriously hurt. Agents secured a warrant on Nov. 14 accusing him, as a felon, of having ammunition tied to one of those shootings.

When agents moved in, Davis drove off, took another driver’s car at gunpoint and fired at the agents. Michigan State Police troopers stopped the stolen car, Davis ran with a pistol, and Detroit Police Department officers shot him before taking him into custody.

Lab tests matched the gun he carried that day to the shots fired at the agents and to the earlier string of shootings. Agents of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives led the investigation with the Detroit Police Department and Michigan State Police. Federal prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s Office are handling the case.
