DETROIT, Mich. — Two Detroit police officers were hospitalized Thursday night after a driver they were trying to pull over took off and hit both of them, along with two police cruisers, on the city’s west side.

The Detroit Police Department said the officers were helping its commercial auto theft unit with a stop near Wyoming Avenue and Eaton Street on Oct. 29 when the vehicle sped away.

Both officers were taken to a hospital in the metro area, and the department lists them in stable condition. Police have not said whether the driver was caught, and the department described the details released so far as preliminary.

Detectives with the 10th Precinct are handling the case. Anyone with information can phone the precinct’s detectives at 313-596-1000 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Tips can also go through Detroit Rewards TV.
