# Halloween in the D Puts Trunk-or-Treats at Every Detroit Precinct

DETROIT, Mich. — Families across Detroit can collect candy Saturday at police stations, firehouses and city recreation centers as the city stages the main day of its Halloween in the D celebration.

Each Detroit Police Department precinct is hosting a trunk-or-treat, and more than 21 city sites are taking part. Most activities run between 4 and 8 p.m., though hours differ by location. The 4th Precinct at 4700 W. Fort St. and the 12th Precinct at 1441 W. Seven Mile Road start early, from 2 to 6 p.m. The 9th Precinct at 11187 Gratiot runs latest, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Recreation centers will add carnival games, face painting and haunted houses, and several Detroit fire engines will be parked at centers including Crowell at 16630 Lahser and Helen Moore Community Center at 11825 Dexter.

This is the ninth year of the event, which started in 2018 and is run by the city Department of Neighborhoods with help from the police, fire and general services departments. City figures put past attendance at more than 30,000 people and candy handed out at more than 1 million pieces. The series wraps up with Fall Fest at Chandler Park on Nov. 7.
