His professional journey predominantly took place at General Motors, where he played a key role in the development of patented safety features, notably the air bag and passive restraint systems, which have become critical components in modern vehicles, enhancing the safety of drivers and passengers alike.

In November 1956, Edwin married Marcella Klove, affectionately known as Marcie. Their marriage lasted an admirable 69 years, during which they nurtured a family of five children: Mark Klove, Lars Klove, Ingrid Klove, Julie Mazza, and Peter Klove. In addition to his professional achievements, Klove was a devoted family man who shared his love for the outdoors with his family. His interests included skiing, sailing, hunting, fishing, and golf, activities that brought joy and togetherness to the Klove family.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in Edwin’s memory to the Friends of the Elk Rapids District Library, with contributions sent to P.O. Box 337, Elk Rapids, MI 49629.
