Livonia, MI – The community is heartbroken as it remembers three beloved residents who recently passed away: Bohdan Hnatiuk, MD, Stephanie Marie O’Dell, and Gloria Jean Finnegan. Each of these individuals touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by family, friends, and the community at large.
Bohdan Hnatiuk, MD
Bohdan Hnatiuk, MD, passed away at the age of 85. He was a devoted husband to his wife Wiebke for 57 remarkable years. Bohdan is survived by his two children, Natalie (married to Thomas) and Mark (married to Luisa). He was also a loving grandfather to his three grandchildren, Audrey, Jack, and Luisa. In addition to his immediate family, Bohdan is survived by his brother Andree (married to Victoria) and sister-in-law Martha, along with their respective families.
Visitation for Bohdan will take place on Thursday, October 9, from 4 PM to 8 PM at RG & GR Harris Funeral Home in Livonia. His funeral service is scheduled for Friday, October 10, beginning with in-state at 9:30 AM, followed by the Divine Liturgy Funeral at 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Dearborn Heights. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ukrainian American Archives & Museum located at 9630 Joseph Campau, Hamtramck, MI. Stephanie Marie O’Dell
Stephanie Marie O’Dell, fondly known as “Saffy,” passed away at the age of 50 on April 2, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a devoted mother to her two children, Kellan Daniel O’Dell and April Rose Cardinal. Stephanie is also remembered as a cherished sister to Michelle (married to Phillip) Priebe and as a loving aunt to her three nieces and nephews, Reese, Teegan, and Shay Priebe.
She was the beloved daughter to her late parents, “Skip” and “Gail” Durand, as well as to late Skip (married to Patricia) O’Dell. Stephanie is also lovingly remembered as a bonus daughter to “Grandma Sue” and Beth. She is survived by a wide circle of friends and family who hold her dear. A celebration of Stephanie’s life is planned for a later date, with specific details yet to be announced.
Gloria Jean Finnegan
Gloria Jean Finnegan passed away on August 30, 2025, at the age of 81 in Allegria Village, Dearborn. Born on March 13, 1944, in Wayne, Michigan, she grew up in Norwayne and lived in several locations throughout her life, including Inkster, Westland, Florida, England, and Dearborn. After retirement, Gloria spent 25 years in Croswell. She was married to Robert Finnegan, who predeceased her in 2021.
Gloria is survived by her two daughters, Diana Ensign and Cynthia Finnegan, as well as her grandchildren Indigo Ensign, Emmeline Ensign, and Kevin Finnegan Fowler. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Kevin Fowler, Jr. and Kenzo Fowler. In addition to her immediate family, Gloria is survived by her sister Carol Rotary and brother Raymond Clayton, among other siblings-in-law.
A passionate advocate for her community, Gloria served as the Union President for non-instructional staff at Dearborn Public Schools. She was known for her vibrant personality, kindness, and ability to connect with others. A memorial service celebrating Gloria’s life will take place on September 20, 2025, at Mexican Fiesta, where family and friends will gather to share memories and honor her legacy.
The loss of Bohdan, Stephanie, and Gloria has cast a pall over the community, but their respective legacies of love and service will continue to inspire those who knew them.
