The Detroit Animal Welfare Group (DAWG) intervened on January 12, rescuing Gideon after it became aware of the severity of his injuries.
Like Monroe, Gideon has required extensive medical treatment, including bandage changes, pain medication, and skin grafts to aid in his recovery. DAWG’s director has noted that in her 13 years of experience in animal rescue, she has never encountered such severe cases of cruelty as seen in Gideon’s situation. After initially displaying signs of pain and trauma, Gideon is gradually healing and has started to show signs of playfulness.
DAWG has been in communication with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, which is currently gathering evidence regarding Gideon’s case. However, as of now, no charges have been filed.
