Cava is celebrating the opening of its first Michigan restaurant in Canton on July 20. A Community Day event on July 19 will offer complimentary meals and a donation drive for Gleaners Food Bank. The restaurant, located at 43450 Ford Road, features a diverse Mediterranean menu and aims to employ between 25 and 40 staff members, reflecting Cava’s commitment to the local community and culinary heritage.
Canton is set to welcome its first Cava restaurant, opening on Sunday, July 20, with a special Community Day event on Saturday, July 19. Located at 43450 Ford Road, the new restaurant occupies the space previously held by Boston Market.
The highly anticipated Community Day will kick off at 10:45 a.m., providing complimentary meals to all guests. In addition to this, Cava will host a donation drive for Gleaners Food Bank of Southeast Michigan, pledging to match any donations made during the event up to $1,000. This initiative reflects Cava’s commitment to community engagement as it makes its debut in Michigan.
Starting Sunday, the Cava restaurant will be open daily from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. The establishment boasts nearly 4,000 square feet, featuring a spacious dining room, digital ordering options, and delivery services to accommodate a growing customer base.
Cava’s menu is known for offering a diverse range of Mediterranean food in a fast-casual setting. Diners can select from 38 different ingredients to customize their meals, creating unique combinations with options such as bowls, pitas, chips, dips, and drinks. Notable dishes include slow-roasted lamb, lemony potatoes, and a variety of fresh greens like arugula, spinach, and saffron basmati rice. Additionally, customers have the chance to choose from proteins such as chicken, steak, falafel, and spicy lamb meatballs.
Signature items that highlight Cava’s culinary offerings include the popular crazy feta dip, a whipped feta spread mixed with jalapeños, onions, and olive oil, which has become a staple among the restaurant’s dedicated patrons.
Cava plans to employ between 25 and 40 individuals at the Canton location, further contributing to the local job market. The restaurant chain, which was founded in 2010 by Ike Grigoropoulos, Dimitri Moshovitis, Ted Xenohristos, and Brett Schulman, aims to make Mediterranean cuisine accessible to all. The founders, all sons of first-generation Greek immigrants, draw inspiration from their heritage to craft dishes that maintain authentic Mediterranean traditions.
Cava’s opening in Canton marks a significant expansion for the brand, as Michigan becomes the 28th state to host its restaurants. Following this launch, Cava has plans for additional locations in Michigan, including a new outlet set to open in April at 636 Woodward Ave. in Detroit, near Shake Shack and Campus Martius Park.
