He also leaves behind four grandchildren and several siblings.
His funeral services were held at Potere-Modetz Funeral Home on September 26, 2025, with burial scheduled for a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Memorial contributions in his honor can be made to Michigan State University or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Steve Connolly
Steve Connolly, who was 53 years old at the time of his death on September 17, 2025, was well-known in the community for his generous spirit and fondness for sports and movies. Born on April 6, 1972, in Staten Island, New York, he moved to Rochester Hills and graduated from Rochester Adams High School in 1990. He was diagnosed with schizophrenia at the age of 21, which added challenges to his life but did not diminish his kind nature.

Arthur George “Art” Carlson
Arthur George “Art” Carlson, aged 88, passed away on September 13, 2025. Born on January 17, 1937, in Detroit, he had a long and fulfilling marriage to Mary Katherine Burke lasting 67 years. Art enjoyed a successful career in retail, culminating in management at Jacobson’s department store. He was also an avid art collector, known for his extensive collection of works by Great Lakes Ships artist Jim Clary, which he generously donated to the Marquette Maritime Museum.
Art’s commitment to family and tradition was evident in his love for history and his heartfelt prayers during family meals. He is survived by three children, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of relatives and friends. His visitation was held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on September 20, 2025, followed by a funeral service and burial at Mount Avon Cemetery in Rochester. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or Leader Dog for the Blind.
