Detroit — A high-speed crash early Wednesday morning has left two people dead and two injured after a vehicle collided with a furniture store on the city’s East Side. The incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. on July 31, 2025, when a vehicle crashed into the former Nationwide Furniture warehouse located on Gratiot Avenue near French Road. The collision resulted in a large hole in the exterior of the building, causing significant structural damage.
Two occupants of the vehicle, identified as siblings Joshaunda Scott and Catone Scott, were pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional adults who were in the vehicle were transported to a local hospital, with one reported to be in critical condition and the other in stable condition. The driver of the vehicle is currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle was likely traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.
