The list of distinguished students has been carefully compiled from submissions by high schools affiliated with the Archdiocese. It is worth noting that different schools may use varying criteria to select their valedictorians and salutatorians, reflecting a diversity of excellence in academic performance.

  • Cameron “Cami” Brewer – University of Michigan (Chemistry), St. Hugo of the Hills, Bloomfield Hills

Commencement and Reflection

The achievements of this year’s class were celebrated during the 100th annual baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises held at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger presided over the ceremony and emphasized the importance of remembrance, encouraging graduates to carry forward the principles they learned through their education and to impart that knowledge to others.

A total of 84 graduates received degrees during the ceremony, including 47 who earned bachelor’s, master’s, or licentiate degrees. Notably, Kim Kerwin was honored for receiving her Master of Arts in Theology, acknowledging the transformative role her education played in her teaching career. Additionally, the event included the graduation of Deacon Timothy Silver, who earned his Baccalaureate in Sacred Theology and is set to be ordained as a priest.

Networking and Future Endeavors

The Archdiocese of Detroit also recognized the second cohort of “40 Under 40” alumni from the Cristo Rey Network, celebrating young leaders in various industries who have emerged from the network of schools focused on providing quality education to low-income and underserved families. Currently, the Cristo Rey Network encompasses 40 schools, with a track record of helping 12,600 students achieve their educational goals.

As the Class of 2025 prepares to move forward, the community continues to rally around these accomplished students, highlighting the collective pride in their achievements and the positive impact they are poised to make in their future endeavors.
