Andre Stephon-Curtis Broadenax, a 29-year-old Detroit man, has been charged with home invasion and car theft during a crime spree involving his 11-year-old daughter. Allegations suggest that he used his daughter to facilitate the crimes on April 29, 2025. Community concerns regarding safety have risen in light of this unusual incident. Broadenax faces multiple charges and has a series of upcoming court dates as the legal proceedings continue.
Detroit—Andre Stephon-Curtis Broadenax, a 29-year-old resident of Detroit, has been officially charged with a series of crimes including home invasion and car theft, as announced by Prosecutor Kym Worthy. Authorities allege that Broadenax used his 11-year-old daughter to help carry out these felonies, causing concern within the community.
The alleged incidents took place on April 29, 2025, at around 8:43 PM, when Broadenax is accused of breaking into the home of a 75-year-old man located on Marquette Drive in Detroit. Simultaneously, he is charged with the theft of a vehicle owned by a 52-year-old man from Dearborn Heights. Reports suggest that Broadenax was in possession of the stolen vehicle when he forcibly entered the victim’s home.
After the alleged criminal acts, Broadenax reportedly fled the scene on foot, leaving behind both his daughter and the stolen car. Following a swift investigation by the Detroit Police Department, Broadenax was apprehended shortly after the incident.
Broadenax faces multiple criminal charges that include:
He was arraigned in the 36th District Court on May 2, 2025. Initially, the court granted a cash/surety bond of $75,000, which included conditions requiring a GPS tether and house arrest. However, during a bond re-determination hearing on May 5, the judge increased the bond amount to $150,000, while still maintaining the same conditions related to monitoring and confinement.
Broadenax is scheduled to appear for a probable cause conference on May 14, 2025, at 8:30 AM, followed by a preliminary examination of the case set for May 21, 2025, at 8:45 AM.
The home invasion and criminal activities have raised alarm among local residents, who noted that such incidents are uncommon in their neighborhood. The proximity of the crime to their homes has led to discussions about safety and security in the area.
Before fleeing the scene, Broadenax allegedly came into contact with the victim’s son, which prompted his rapid departure from the property. The motive behind the crime and the extent of planning involved are still under investigation as the legal proceedings unfold.
Detroit has faced its share of crime over the years, but community members often report a general sense of safety in their neighborhoods. The incident involving Broadenax has disrupted this sense of normalcy, with many residents expressing solidarity with the victims involved in the recent crime.
As the case proceeds through the judicial system, the community awaits further developments, hoping for justice while reflecting on the importance of maintaining safe neighborhoods for everyone.
