The charges were filed in relation to an incident that occurred on May 24, 2025, when Grier allegedly drove a Chrysler 300 at dangerously high speeds, striking another vehicle and causing severe injuries to its occupant, Wendy Drew. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The chase began shortly before the fatal crash, around 9:30 p.m., when Warren police attempted to stop Grier for speeding. He was reportedly driving at 70 mph in a 40 mph zone, and when officers activated their lights and sirens, Grier refused to pull over. Instead, he sped off, leading police on a reckless pursuit that included driving on sidewalks, through the middle turn lane, and ignoring multiple traffic signals. At its peak, Grier’s speed exceeded 100 mph.

The collision occurred at the intersection of South Van Dyke Avenue and 9 Mile Road, where Grier’s vehicle struck another car, resulting in Drew’s fatal injuries. She was the only occupant of her vehicle and was transported to the hospital, but ultimately succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

Following the crash, Grier fled the scene on foot but was apprehended by authorities shortly thereafter. He has since been charged with several offenses, which include:
