The Office of Inspector General’s report revealed significant overspending at King High School, notably expenses exceeding $31,000 for prom activities in the current fiscal year. Moreover, funds intended for robotics programs were misallocated, with additional findings including unauthorized athletic programs and misuse of school facilities.

In an effort to turn this situation around, DPSCD has outlined two major capital projects aimed at revitalizing its educational facilities. The redevelopment of Cooley High School is intended to create a community sports facility, which is crucial for enhancing competitive sports opportunities and addressing the physical activity gap among students. Completion of this project is projected for 2026.

Additionally, the Davis Aerospace Technical High School is being re-established at City Airport after being moved from its original campus. This revitalization is set to double its enrollment capacity and provide essential hands-on training for students, with funding being secured through a $7 million state earmark. The completion date for the Davis Aerospace project is anticipated to be 2027.
