Detroit, Michigan – Metro Detroit is experiencing below-average temperatures this week, with anticipated cooler air and periods of rain looming on the horizon. As residents brace for the chilly weather, they can expect some sunny moments even amidst the cloud cover.

This Sunday night, the skies will predominantly be cloudy, with overnight lows expected to hover in the mid- to upper-40s for most areas. However, cities like Adrian, Dearborn, Taylor, Detroit, Warren, and St. Clair Shores may experience slightly milder temperatures. In contrast, regions including Brighton, Auburn Hills, Almont, Armada, and Port Huron will feel the brunt of the cooler air.

Winds will flow in from the north and northwest at speeds of 5 to 10 mph, contributing to the overall chill in the air. Looking ahead to Monday, the day will start with mostly cloudy skies but promises a clearing trend as the morning progresses, leading to ample sunshine in the afternoon hours. High temperatures on Monday are expected to reach the mid-60s, remaining a few degrees below the seasonal average. Winds on Monday will also come from the north-northeast at 5 to 10 mph.

As the temperatures drop overnight, areas like Monroe, Livonia, Ferndale, Roseville, and Harper Woods will likely see lows in the lower to mid-40s. Meanwhile, the Thumb region is at risk of experiencing even cooler temperatures, potentially dropping into the mid-30s overnight.

The cool weather pattern affecting the region is forecasted to persist throughout the week. Starting Tuesday afternoon, rain is predicted, continuing into the evening. The rainy stretch is expected to last until Saturday, with high temperatures during this period ranging from the upper 50s to mid-60s and consistent lows remaining in the 40s. By the following Sunday, some communities may finally experience a slight uptick in temperatures, possibly reaching nearly 70 degrees.

Residents are encouraged to document the changing weather by sharing their weather photos, utilizing the #MIPics hashtag to capture the community spirit amidst the seasonal shift.
