News Summary

Metro Detroit is bracing for a cool and rainy weekend, with temperatures dropping to the lower-40s on Saturday night. Rain is expected to impact the area on Sunday, coinciding with the 60th Annual Cinco de Mayo Parade in Southwest Detroit. Attendees are advised to dress appropriately for the weather. The rain is predicted to continue into Monday, with temperatures reaching the mid-60s. The upcoming week shows potential for sunnier conditions as temperatures are expected to rise.

Metro Detroit is gearing up for a cool and rainy weekend, as weather forecasts predict a significant drop in temperatures coupled with rainfall, which may affect planned festivities in the area.

Temperatures are expected to fall to the lower-40s on Saturday night across several cities, including Adrian, Ann Arbor, Canton, Taylor, Detroit, Monroe, and Warren. In contrast, areas such as Grand Blanc, Metamora, Armada, and Marlette will experience even cooler lows, dipping to the mid- to upper-30s. Winds will blow from the north-northeast at approximately 10 mph, with occasional gusts reaching up to 20 mph.

On Sunday, the cloudy conditions will persist throughout the day, bringing temperatures back up to the lower- to mid-50s, which is notably over 10 degrees below the seasonal average. The winds are predicted to shift slightly, increasing to around 15 mph from the north-northeast, with gusts potentially reaching 30 mph.

Rain showers will begin on Sunday morning, first impacting areas south of I-94, such as Blissfield, Lambertville, and Monroe. By late morning, rainfall will spread northward, reaching areas around noon. With the 60th Annual Cinco de Mayo Parade set to start at noon in Southwest Detroit, attendees are advised to prepare for the rain by bringing rain jackets, ponchos, or umbrellas, as forecasted rainfall totals could exceed one inch on Sunday.

The evening on Sunday is projected to be rainy as well, with temperatures only dropping to the upper-40s to lower-50s. Looking ahead, Monday, which marks the celebration of Cinco de Mayo, is expected to continue the trend of mostly cloudy weather with an increased chance of rain into the afternoon and evening. High temperatures on Monday are predicted to reach around the mid-60s, while nighttime lows will hover around the 50-degree mark, inviting more rain.

The forecast for Tuesday suggests a continuation of the rainy conditions, with daytime temperatures peaking in the mid-60s and lows settling in the lower- to mid-50s. After several days of wet weather, a shift is anticipated for Wednesday, with mostly cloudy skies and the possibility of a stray shower, but temperatures are expected to rebound to the lower-70s during the day and fall to the upper-40s at night.

As the week progresses, there is optimism for a sunnier outlook. By Thursday, skies are forecasted to transition to partly to mostly sunny, with highs reaching into the lower-60s. This trend is expected to continue into Friday, with temperatures climbing to the upper-60s to around 70 degrees. Saturday is looking even more promising, with lower- to mid-70s anticipated, aligning with the average highs for this time of year, which typically hover in the mid- to upper-60s.

As the weather unfolds over the weekend and into the following week, residents of Metro Detroit and visitors alike should stay informed and prepared for cooler temperatures and potential rain, especially during significant events such as the Cinco de Mayo Parade.
