Sterling Heights to Host Sterlingfest

The annual Sterlingfest will take place in Sterling Heights from Thursday, featuring a tribute act to George Michael and Wham, followed by a captivating drone show on Thursday night. The festival will offer performances throughout the weekend, including Mac Watts and Collin Rayne Friday night, and 1980s rock bands Quiet Riot and Warrant on Saturday night. With activity hours running from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., the festival will also include entertainment for kids and a jazz and blues stage, providing a fun-filled experience for the whole family at 40555 Utica.

Concerts and Musical Acts Across Detroit

This weekend also sees numerous notable performances in Detroit. Multi-platinum rock band Shinedown is set to play at 7 p.m. on Friday as part of their “Dance, Kid, Dance” tour. Supporting acts for the concert include Gavin Rossdale and the 1990s hitmakers Bush, along with Morgan Wade. Tickets for this exciting rock event start at $59.75.

In addition to Shinedown, the indie folk band the Crane Wives will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday, with tickets priced at $59.63. At the same time, R&B artist Kem will hold concerts on both Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. to mark his 58th birthday, with tickets beginning at $64.50.

On Friday, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) will present a live performance of Danny Elfman’s score while screening Tim Burton’s classic film. This concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and has tickets starting at $39, appealing to fans of both music and film.

Art and Community Celebrations

Over the weekend, the 21st annual Art Fair in Rochester Hills will showcase more than 70 artists and provide ongoing free entertainment, activities for children, and an Easter egg hunt. This popular event will run on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Another family-friendly event, a street fair in Midtown Detroit, will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, celebrating the city’s birthday with live music, food, and various activities.

Shoppers can also enjoy a vintage market curated by The Peacock Room in the Fisher Building lobby on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring a variety of sellers with no admission fee.

Porchfest and Punk Rock Closing the Weekend

On Sunday, the punk rock band The Offspring will headline a concert at Pine Knob, with support from Jimmy Eat World and New Found Glory, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets for this high-energy event start at $53.85. Meanwhile, Nashville-based Americana duo Goldpine will perform at The Ark at 7:30 p.m., with ticket prices ranging from $24 to $35.

Additionally, there will be a community fair, Shakespeare performances, and a beer festival happening across Metro Detroit this weekend. A highlight of the events will be the 10,000 Scoop Challenge ice cream social set for July 23 in downtown Detroit, where the goal is to serve 10,000 scoops of ice cream, with $1 from each scoop sold aiding the Salvation Army Metro Detroit.
