Flint, MI – On Saturday, May 10, 2025, approximately 78 students from Flint Southwestern Classical Academy and the Accelerated Learning Academy came together to celebrate their prom aboard the Detroit Princess Riverboat, with a captivating “Masquerade” theme.
The event commenced with an extravagant entrance as prom-goers arrived at Flint Southwestern Classical Academy in style, including stunning horse-drawn carriages and luxury vehicles. Among these, a striking pink Cadillac left a lasting impression on the attendees.
Students showcased an array of sharp suits, beautiful gowns, and eye-catching accessories, contributing to the overall festive atmosphere. Family and friends supported the attendees as they walked the red carpet, posing for photographs and cheering for the young couples.
After the grand entrances, the students were transported to Detroit via two charter buses, accompanied by a total of 20 chaperones who ensured the event remained a safe and enjoyable experience.

Crowning of Prom Royalty

The winners from Flint Southwestern Classical Academy included Jalon Coleman and Nyriah Mayes as king and queen, respectively. From the Accelerated Learning Academy, the crowned royalty were Jimeon Youngblood and Jayla Sanders. Additionally, representing Southwestern Learning Support, Osaric Terry-Dye and Stephani Upchurch-Kinzer were named king and queen.
