This accolade comes after Hessbrook’s team achieved a resounding victory against Carrollton, winning with an impressive score of 68-6, which has boosted their overall season record to 4-0.

Under Hessbrook’s guidance, the Yellowjackets have demonstrated remarkable offensive prowess, scoring a total of 203 points in just four games, which averages out to 50.8 points per game. Their performance has earned them a solid ranking of #3 in Division 7.

The Yellowjackets are now preparing for their annual Homecoming game, which will take place on September 26th against Hemlock. This matchup marks the 22nd encounter between the two teams, adding historical significance to the upcoming game.

Jordan Hessbrook is in his 12th season of coaching at Ithaca High School, having stepped into the head coaching role for the fifth consecutive year. During his tenure, he has led the team to the playoffs every season, achieving two notable regional appearances in 2022 and 2023. His career record stands at 41-8, reflecting a remarkable win rate of 83.7%. This consistent success highlights his effective leadership skills and coaching strategies.

Hessbrook’s connection to the Ithaca football program runs deep, having once played for the team himself. As a student-athlete, he contributed to the team’s success, winning state championships in 2010, 2011, and 2012. This personal history enhances his commitment to the program and the local community, as he aims to pass on the legacy of excellence he experienced. Recently, he was interviewed by the Detroit Lions Football Education team, in which he discussed the challenges and expectations of taking over the coaching responsibilities from his uncle.

The Detroit Lions High School Football Coach of the Week Program has been recognizing outstanding coaches for 29 years, focusing on not only their success on the field but also their dedication to character development, discipline, and the health and safety of their players. Each selected coach receives a $1,000 donation for their football program, contributing to the growth of high school football in the region.

In total, the program has allocated $515,000 to high school football programs across Michigan. For the current 2025 season, an additional $12,000 is set to be distributed to further promote the sport and its associated values. All winners of this prestigious recognition receive a certificate signed by Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, adding a personal touch to their achievement.
