Meijer has announced a recall of specific packages of Frederik’s Dark Chocolate Almonds due to the presence of an undeclared allergen. Consumers with allergies or severe sensitivities to cashews are at risk of serious health reactions if they consume the product.
The recalled items may contain dark chocolate-covered cashews that are not explicitly mentioned on the label. This oversight poses a significant threat to individuals with cashew allergies, prompting an urgent response to ensure consumer safety.
The recall covers Frederik’s Dark Chocolate Almonds packaged in black stand-up pouches available in Meijer stores across several states. The affected states include Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. Specific sell-by dates for the impacted packages are May 7, 2026, and May 28, 2026. Additionally, an 8-count, 1.5-ounce multi-pack box with a sell-by date of May 5, 2026, is also included in the recall.
This product recall is not isolated, as several other companies have also announced recalls for various products due to undeclared allergens.
Vita-Warehouse Corp. has recalled multiple Vitamin B12 gummy products, including those sold under the Aldi Welby, Berkley Jensen, and VitaGlobe brands. This recall arose due to an undeclared peanut allergen that could jeopardize consumers with peanut allergies. These products were distributed nationwide at Aldi and BJ’s retail stores, as well as through online sales.
Turkana Food Inc. has recalled its Flora Dried Apricots, which contain undeclared sulfites on their labels. This recall affects consumers in a number of states, including Florida, Kentucky, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maryland, Ohio, Alabama, Missouri, and California.
In a separate incident, Naturipe Value Added Fresh LLC has recalled its Berry Buddies, Berries & Pancakes snack packs due to undeclared wheat and egg ingredients. These snack packs were sold at Kroger and Meijer in Michigan and are packaged in a 2.1-ounce/60-gram plastic container marked with lot number 1097901 and an expiration date of February 25, 2025. A total of 694 cases of the snack packs are affected, although no illnesses have been reported thus far.
Consumers who have purchased any of the affected products should take immediate action. For the Frederik’s Dark Chocolate Almonds, those with allergies should avoid consumption, dispose of the product, or return it to the store for a full refund. The same guidance applies to the Berry Buddies snack packs.
As a proactive measure, it is critical for consumers to remain vigilant about food labels. The recalls serve as reminders for individuals with food allergies to always check packaging for allergen information to avoid serious health risks.
In light of these recalls, the preparation and labeling processes within the food industry are under scrutiny, emphasizing the importance of accuracy in ingredient listings to protect consumer health.
