One of the highlights of the summer concert series will be a special performance by rapper Big Sean, set to take place on June 29. This unique event will feature the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, which will present orchestral arrangements, enhancing Big Sean’s performance. The concert will also pay tribute to the late hip-hop producer J Dilla, with Tim Davies conducting the orchestra.
Joining Big Sean on stage will be fellow artists, including Skilla Baby, Tee Grizzley, Illa J, Nasaan, and Queen Naija. Proceeds from the concert will benefit local charities, including the Detroit Pistons Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club of Southeastern Michigan, and Big Sean’s own Sean Anderson Foundation. Tickets for the concert will go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday via Ticketmaster, starting at $75.
On another front, The Weeknd will bring his After Hours Til Dawn Tour to Ford Field, performing over two nights for a crowd of more than 40,000 fans. This concert is expected to feature an extravagant stage setup, complete with lasers and pyrotechnics, complemented by a backdrop resembling a crumbling cityscape and a massive video wall.
The Weeknd’s setlist will include some of his biggest hits such as “Blinding Lights”, “Save Your Tears”, and “I Feel It Coming”. The concert will also feature an opening act by Playboi Carti, who will perform an energetic 40-minute set before The Weeknd takes the stage.
