Metro Detroit is embracing new dining experiences this season as several exciting restaurants have opened their doors across the region. These establishments offer a variety of cuisines and atmospheres, catering to diverse tastes and preferences.

New Additions

Rectory Pizzeria has recently opened in the Boston-Edison neighborhood, bringing a taste of Neapolitan cuisine to local residents. Located at 1920 Atkinson Street, this remodeled single-family house features a menu that includes pizzas, salads, and starters like smoked beef and lamb meatballs. Customers can enjoy the alfresco dining experience with the restaurant’s outdoor deck seating.

Meanwhile, Brisa Bar at Cabana 313 has reopened for the season in Downtown Detroit, offering a beach-themed vibe that aims to transport diners to a tropical paradise. The venue, located at 800 Woodward Avenue (Campus Martius Park), has expanded to a larger two-story space that includes seating in the sand. Its menu features items such as nachos with smoked pork, crispy wings, and jumbo quesadillas, complemented by drink options like spiked slushies and the unique Boardwalk Bubblegum cocktail.

Franklin Oyster Bar and Eatery has taken over the former space of Franklin Grill, located at 32760 Franklin Road. This new establishment emphasizes East Coast seafood, with notable dishes created by Executive Chef Nick Geftos, including oysters and clam linguine. Franklin Oyster Bar also provides weekend brunch, patio seating, and a private dining room for events.

Cuisine Enhancements

In Grosse Pointe, the former Shift Kitchen and Cocktails has transitioned into the Ryuu Sushi establishment located at 17051 Kercheval Avenue. This venue offers a selection of maki rolls, small plates, and sashimi platters. Chef James Lee is set to broaden the menu to include noodle dishes and other enticements in the near future.

Another notable opening is Latitudes in Wyandotte, housed in the former Portofino location at 3455 Biddle Avenue. This restaurant presents a spacious dining area, outdoor patio, and adirondack chair seating, all with a seafood-focused menu. Favorites include oysters, hand rolls, and yellowtail Florida snapper. Patrons can also enjoy relaxed drink options such as frozen Hemingway daiquiris and Key lime pie martinis, along with a first-come, first-served dock available for boat lovers.

Fred’s has made its return to Downtown Detroit after a successful run in Ann Arbor. Known for its breakfast and lunch selections, Fred’s, located at 1454 Gratiot Avenue, serves crowd-pleasers such as ricotta toast, barbacoa breakfast sandwiches, and a highly sought-after egg sandwich with scrambled eggs and avocado on Zingerman’s challah roll. The restaurant welcomes guests Tuesday through Sunday, offering a variety of dishes until 3 p.m.

Mexican Cuisine Emergence

Lastly, in Sterling Heights, Raíces Mexican Cantina has debuted at 44805 Mound Road. The menu features classic Mexican dishes such as sizzling fajitas, flautas, quesabirria, and a variety of tacos. Dessert fans can indulge in churros from La Nina. This restaurant is known for its unique happy hour from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, offering $2 off on a selection of beers, margaritas, and appetizers. Raíces is owned by Maria Aldana, who is well recognized for other successful dining establishments in the area.

Conclusion

The emergence of these new restaurants in Metro Detroit not only enhances the diversity of dining options available to residents but also encourages a vibrant and community-oriented food culture. As more people look to explore new culinary experiences, these establishments are set to attract diners with their unique offerings and inviting ambiances.
