Pittsburgh, PA – Robert Morris University claimed the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, by defeating Detroit Mercy with a decisive score of 17-8. This victory marks Robert Morris’ third NEC title and their fourth overall championship, following a previous win in the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) during the 2022 season.
Calum Brennan played a pivotal role in the championship game, being named the Most Valuable Player after scoring four goals. His performance followed an impressive showing in the NEC Semifinals where he netted eight goals, demonstrating his critical impact on the team’s success in the tournament. Additionally, Bo Columbus excelled in face-offs, winning 18 out of 24, effectively securing possession for Robert Morris. Nick Pelletier also made a significant contribution, tallying five points with two goals and three assists.
The Colonials showcased their dominance throughout the game, particularly highlighted by scoring 10 consecutive goals that established control early on. The scoring spree began with David Burr’s opening goal, a low-angle shot from the wing that ignited the Robert Morris offense.
