HURON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Search teams in Huron Township are still looking for Kimberly McGrath of Southgate after her wrecked car turned up beside the Huron River, and local officials say days of sweeps have not found her.

McGrath, who is 43, vanished from public view after the crash report came in Saturday for the 18000 block of Hannan Road. A resident flagged a vehicle that had slammed into a backyard near the waterline with nobody behind the wheel.

Investigators described heavy damage where the car struck a tree off a driveway close to the riverbank. Her phone and purse remained in the vehicle. She was not at the wreck or at her Southgate residence. Family members told authorities their last contact was Friday.

Township firefighters probed reachable sections of the river. Township police, Metroparks officers and the Michigan State Police added drone flights and dog teams on the ground. Those efforts have come up empty so far.

Public Safety Director Everette Robbins warned that McGrath may have been hurt in the wreck and asked people living nearby to look through sheds, garages and other spots where someone injured might take cover. Tips go to township police at 734-753-4400. Dispatch logged the first call around 5:34 p.m. Saturday.
