Detroit, Mich. — Cynthia Miller, the wife of Detroit Lions play-by-play announcer Dan Miller and a longtime presence at home games, died Saturday, Oct. 10, at age 63, according to an L.J. Griffin Funeral Home obituary.
The couple met while she worked as a radio producer at the Westwood One Network and were married 33 years, with Miller a familiar face in the fifth row behind the Lions bench at every home game.
Jason Benetti, filling in on the Lions radio call against Arizona on Sunday, told listeners the broadcast thoughts were with Dan Miller after the loss of his wife of 33 years.
Born Oct. 3, 1963, in Falls Church, Virginia, she graduated from the University of Maryland in 1985, spent a decade as a news producer, and later taught preschool for five years.
A memorial gathering for Cindy will be held on Friday, October 16, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the L.J. Griffin Funeral Home Northrop-Sassaman Chapel on Northville Road at Seven Mile, with a funeral service celebrating her life at 6 p.m.
Family remembered her as a Lions devotee who attended the two home playoff games with her daughters in 2024 and fostered multiple cats, leaving four children and two grandchildren.
