Sudbury, Ontario: Wings prospect Levac suspended by OHL

Sudbury, Ontario — Detroit Red Wings draft pick Adam Levac was suspended indefinitely by the Ontario Hockey League after a match penalty in Peterborough’s 7-3 loss at Sudbury on Friday night.

The Petes center was assessed a deliberate attempt to injure after charging and cross-checking late in the game, and the league said the ban will remain in place pending a full review of the play.

Video circulating from the final minute showed the hit coming after Sudbury had already put the game away, raising fresh questions about discipline for an 18-year-old still developing in junior hockey.

It is the second serious OHL suspension for Levac in less than a year after he sat eight games last season for a slew-foot and punches during an altercation with an Ottawa 67’s player.

Detroit selected Levac 108th overall in the 2026 NHL Draft as a competitive edge forward, a reputation scouts compared to high-intensity NHL forwards while he continues his junior career with Peterborough.

The OHL has not yet announced a fixed length for the new ban, leaving the Red Wings development staff waiting on how many games the league will ultimately attach after the review.
