INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Detroit Mercy struck first on Sunday afternoon but could not keep pace with IU Indy, dropping a 4-2 Horizon League women’s soccer match at Michael A. Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis.
Sophomore Emma Henry put the Titans up 1-0 only three minutes in, her third goal of the year.
The Jaguars then scored the next four, beginning with an equalizer in the 18th minute. Senior Caroline Kelley scored twice for IU Indy, including the winner, and Annaliese Black and Keilah Muldrow each added a goal and an assist.
Freshman Adey Avey later added the first goal of her college career, set up by graduate student Avery Mondoux. Detroit Mercy held the edge in shots, 16-12, and in corner kicks with 10. Senior keeper Eva Hill stopped three shots, while Isabel Oferosky made seven saves for the Jaguars.
The loss leaves the Titans at 4-9-2 overall and 2-5-1 in league play. IU Indy, which has won two in a row, moved to 6-8-2 and 4-4.
