DETROIT, Mich. — A dozen Detroit high schools are headed to the state football playoffs, and most of them will open at home after the Michigan High School Athletic Association released its 2026 pairings Sunday evening.
Unbeaten Cass Tech, 9-0, welcomes Plymouth, which squeaked in at 4-5. Martin Luther King, 6-3, hosts Grosse Pointe North in a matchup of teams with identical records. Cody, 8-1, gets St. Clair, Edison, 8-1, meets Dearborn Heights Robichaud, and Central, also 8-1, faces Warren Michigan Collegiate. East English, 7-2, draws Macomb Lutheran North, Voyageur College Prep takes on Ida and Detroit Community, 8-1, plays Union City.
Four city teams start on the road: Mumford visits unbeaten Gibraltar Carlson, Southeastern travels to Marysville, Denby goes to Redford Union and Communication Media Arts heads to Ecorse.
The association seeds the bracket by playoff-point average, and the higher seed hosts no matter how far apart the schools are. District semifinals are set for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30 and 31, with district finals the weekend of Nov. 6-7.
The road ends back in the city. The 11-player state championship games are scheduled for Nov. 27-28 at Ford Field, where a day ticket costs $20 for all four games.
