ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Fifth-ranked Michigan started the women’s basketball year with a 77-66 victory over second-ranked UConn on Thursday night at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, the top-ranked win the program has ever posted.
Te’Yala Delfosse poured in a personal-best 22 points and pulled down nine boards. Olivia Olson finished with 19 points, eight boards and four steals, Courtney Ogden added 12 off the bench, Syla Swords scored 10, and Dallas Loughridge dealt nine assists in her first Michigan game.
Neither side led by more than six through three quarters. UConn nosed ahead 57-55 early in the fourth before a Kendall Dudley layup and consecutive Delfosse threes pushed Michigan to 63-57.
The Wolverines won the fourth quarter 22-13 after trailing 21-17 after one and holding a 35-29 halftime edge. Ashley Sofilkanich’s layup inside the final three minutes made it an eight-point game, and free throws sealed it.
Michigan plays Wright State at 2 p.m. Sunday inside Crisler Center and will raise its 2026 Elite Eight banner beforehand. Coach Kim Barnes Arico notched her second career win over the Huskies.
