DETROIT, Mich. — A two-level corner condo high in Detroit’s Westin Book Cadillac tower is listed at $2,795,000, putting a landmark residence back on the market.
Unit 2902 covers about 3,079 square feet with two bedrooms, an office, assigned parking and a storage unit. Corner windows look out over the river, the Ambassador Bridge and downtown towers.
The seller sank about $800,000 into systems and finishes, gutting large parts of the unit across half a year in 2017 and refreshing a guest bath the next year. A custom spiral stair climbs to a loft tucked into one of the hotel’s upper turrets, past living space that includes twin fireplaces.
Architect Louis Kamper’s Book-Cadillac opened in 1924 as Detroit’s tallest building and the world’s tallest hotel. It closed in 1984, sat vacant more than 20 years, then reopened in 2008 after a restoration that placed a Westin on lower floors and about 65 private residences above.
Listing agent Nicholas Asplund of @properties Christie’s International Real Estate says residents can use the hotel pool and gym, order room service and tap other hotel perks through association fees. Monthly HOA dues run about $2,700.
