SEATTLE, Wash. — The Detroit Red Wings climbed out of a three-goal hole in the third period Tuesday night but came away with only a point, losing 4-3 to the Seattle Kraken in a shootout.
Seattle built a 3-0 cushion through two periods on goals from Mackie Samoskevich, Ryker Evans and Brandon Montour. Detroit managed just 11 shots over those first 40 minutes, and a pair of overlapping penalties early in the second handed Seattle a two-man advantage that led to the Evans goal.
The comeback started at 6:25 of the third when Viktor Arvidsson broke the shutout. Lucas Raymond followed 59 seconds later with his first goal of the season on a power play. With goalie Daniil Tarasov pulled for an extra skater, Alex DeBrincat tied it with 17 seconds left, his sixth goal of the year.
In the shootout, Arvidsson was the only Detroit scorer. McMann then beat Tarasov in round four to put Seattle ahead, and Philipp Grubauer turned aside Larkin to seal it. Tarasov made 24 saves.
Detroit is now 3-3-3 and has earned at least a point in five straight games. The road trip continues Thursday in Vancouver against the Canucks.
