Forward Ausar Thompson followed with 6:37 left in the third quarter, landing hard after going up to contest a layup by Andrew Wiggins. In 19 minutes of work, Thompson totaled four points, four assists and three rebounds, and he also stayed out the rest of the way.
Detroit leaned on its bench. Paul Reed posted 19 points and 11 rebounds, John Collins scored a team-high 23 points, Duncan Robinson had 17 and Cade Cunningham added 16 points with eight assists.
