PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Detroit Pistons are still perfect after a Sunday night stop in Philadelphia, Pa. Cade Cunningham poured in 26 points, and Detroit never trailed in a 106-93 road victory over LeBron James and the 76ers at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
The win lifted Detroit to 3-0. The Pistons got it done with their All-Star big man, Jalen Duren, sidelined by a strained right hamstring he hurt during Friday’s victory over Miami; he is set to sit at least two weeks.
John Collins filled the gap inside with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Detroit jumped out on a 15-1 run and stretched the margin to 56-35 in the second quarter before Philadelphia trimmed it to 56-44 at halftime.
Each time the Sixers pushed, the Pistons answered. Cunningham buried back-to-back 3-pointers after Philadelphia got within five in the third quarter, and Duncan Robinson, who hit five of Detroit’s 14 threes, knocked down another in the fourth to stop a run that had cut the gap to four.
Cunningham also finished with eight rebounds and eight assists, while Daniss Jenkins chipped in 18 points and six assists and Robinson finished with 21 points. Tyrese Maxey scored 29 for Philadelphia and James, 41, added 18. The Sixers, who had played the night before and were without Joel Embiid and VJ Edgecombe, suffered their first loss after a 3-0 start.
