DETROIT, Mich. — Detroit City FC opens its USL Championship playoff run at home Friday, Oct. 30, when the East’s third-seeded club welcomes Hartford Athletic to Keyworth Stadium for an 8 p.m. kickoff.
Coach Danny Dichio’s team finished the regular season 14-9-7 after a scoreless draw with Louisville City FC last Saturday. Its calling card all year was defense. Detroit gave up just 21 goals in 29 matches, fewest in the league, and at Keyworth opponents scored from open play just twice all year, tying the club’s single-season mark set in 2019.
Goalkeeper Carlos Herrera won the league’s 2026 Golden Glove after making 55 saves. The club went 4-2-4 down the stretch from late August, a run that included wins over Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and Brooklyn FC.
Keyworth is a short-term home in the bigger picture. The club is building AlumniFi Field, a 15,000-seat stadium paid for with private money, rising where the former Southwest Detroit Hospital stood, and this week picked Oak View Group as its exclusive food and beverage partner for the venue, which is set to open in spring 2028.
