Washington, D.C. — Detroit guard Daniss Jenkins and Washington guard Trae Young were ejected midway through the third quarter Saturday after a confrontation during the Pistons’ 114-108 overtime loss to the Wizards at Capital One Arena.
Officials first assessed double technical fouls, then issued a second set when both players kept arguing during the review, triggering automatic ejections. Anthony Davis and Ronald Holland II helped separate them.
Young had two points and eight assists in 23 minutes before leaving. Jenkins had 12 points and four assists in 18 minutes as a starter for Detroit.
The ejection was the flashpoint in a chippy preseason game that already featured multiple physical exchanges. The Pistons had rallied from a 20-point hole and forced overtime before falling.
Coach J.B. Bickerstaff has used exhibition games to evaluate two-way players and bench depth with Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren sidelined.
