DETROIT, Mich. — A road rage confrontation turned into gunfire Monday afternoon on the eastbound side of I-94 close to Trumbull Avenue in Detroit, shutting down that side of the freeway while troopers worked the scene. Traffic backed up as drivers looked for other ways around the closure.
The Michigan State Police said they got the call at about 2:15 p.m. Two drivers had been feuding near the I-96 interchange when a shot was fired. The bullet hit one of the cars and broke its windows, but no one was hurt.
Eastbound I-94 was blocked at I-96, and drivers were sent off at the I-96 ramp at Rosa Parks Boulevard. Linwood was also closed for a time. The lanes have since reopened.
Investigators are going through evidence and trying to find the shooter and the vehicle the shooter was driving. No arrest had been announced.
