DETROIT, Mich. — Deondre Hill carried Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice past the top team in the state on Saturday night, running for five touchdowns as the Warriors knocked off previously unbeaten Detroit Catholic Central 35-29 in overtime at Ford Field.
The Prep Bowl matchup closed out the Michigan regular season, and it went to the wire. Hill punched in his fourth score with 1:07 left after Drake Martin found Christian Marshall for a 49-yard gain to the 1, but the missed kick left Rice ahead only 25-22. The Shamrocks moved into range and tied it when Ty Goddard hit from 42 yards with 20 seconds to go.
In overtime the Brother Rice defensive front stopped Ryan Jaafar and two more inside runs. A pass interference call then set up the offense, and Hill finished it from five yards out.
Marshall caught eight passes for 199 yards and opened the night with a long kickoff return to set up the first score. The win was the first for Brother Rice over Catholic Central since a 41-14 result on Sept. 26, 2014.
