Dense Fog Advisory Lifts to a Warm, Sunny Sunday in Detroit

Storm clouds building over open country

DETROIT, Mich. — Drivers heading out early Sunday across Metro Detroit should plan for thick fog. The National Weather Service put a Dense Fog Advisory in place at 3:03 a.m., and it runs until 10 a.m.

Once the fog lifts, the day should turn into one of the nicer late-October Sundays of the season. The weather service calls for partly sunny skies and a high of 68 degrees, well above normal for this point in fall, on a light breeze out of the south-southwest.

High pressure parked over the region is keeping the weekend warm and dry. Skies go mostly cloudy tonight with a low near 47, and patchy fog could form again before the Monday commute. Monday brings a high near 67 once that fog clears.

Behind a cold front, Tuesday turns crisper and feels more like fall, with highs close to 60. Temperatures climb again into the mid 60s Wednesday and back near 70 by the end of the week, and no rain is in sight for the coming days.

In fog, slow down, use low-beam headlights and leave extra distance behind the car ahead.
