DEARBORN, Mich. — A Dearborn Heights teen is dead after a one-car wreck at the Monroe and Beech intersection area, authorities confirmed.
Dearborn Police found the scene while already on patrol. The young driver left the roadway and hit a tree. People nearby said the car had been going fast. Dearborn Fire and Rescue carried the driver to a hospital, and death was declared there.
Annapolis High School leaders said the student was a junior active in campus life but did not release a name. Superintendent Mark Kleinhans told families about grief counseling and offered help for students and staff.
Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin expressed sympathy for relatives. Detectives have not publicly named the teen and are still weighing whether speed played a role.
A neighbor who heard the impact rushed over, found the driver without a pulse, and stayed until the first officer reached the car.
