DETROIT, Mich. — Halloween in Detroit is shaping up gray but mostly dry, with forecasters expecting clouds to thicken through Saturday and only a slim chance that rain reaches the city before trick-or-treating.
Highs Saturday should top out in the upper 50s, close to 60 degrees, under a light southeast breeze. By evening, kids heading door to door can expect temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. Any sprinkles that develop are most likely west of US-23, and a band of rain trying to push in from the southwest is expected to fall apart.
Daylight saving time ends early Sunday, giving everyone an extra hour of sleep. Sunday brings a sunrise near 7:30 a.m. and a sunset near 5:30 p.m., with afternoon highs rebounding into the mid to upper 60s for fans heading to the Lions game.
The warmer pattern carries into next week, which points to a mild and mostly dry Election Day on Tuesday. The best odds for rain return Wednesday and Thursday.
