Bagley is a northwest Detroit neighborhood situated between Livernois Avenue on the west, McNichols Road on the north, the Davison Freeway (M-8) on the south, and Woodward Avenue area on the east. Bagley is a compact, working-density northwest Detroit neighborhood of brick ranches, bungalows, and small colonials built in the 1930s-1950s. The Bagley Community Council has long been a consistent voice for neighborhood improvement, code enforcement, and blight removal. History
Bagley developed primarily in the 1930s-1950s as northwest Detroit expanded outward from the New Center hub. The neighborhood was integrated relatively early compared to many Detroit neighborhoods due to its proximity to the historically African-American Conant Gardens area. The Bagley Community Council was organized to address the challenges of a transitional urban neighborhood and has remained an active civic presence for decades.
