DETROIT, Mich. — The Detroit Lions put a perfect home record on the line at noon Sunday at Ford Field, where the 6-0 Minnesota Vikings arrive unbeaten.
Detroit is 4-2 overall and 3-0 at home behind an offense putting up better than 30 points a game with Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown. Minnesota counters with the league defense allowing the fewest points, 12.3 per game, built on heavy blitzing.
The Lions also learned Saturday that safety Brian Branch was fined $23,882 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Green Bay tight end Tucker Kraft in last week’s 20-17 win over the Packers. No flag was thrown on the play, which came with 3:39 left in the first quarter, but the league’s accountability report cited improper use of the helmet. Linebacker Derrick Barnes was fined $11,941 for a late hit in the same game.
Branch has piled up 15 fines in his career, five of them for helmet contact.
