DETROIT, Mich. — The Detroit Lions got a lift on the injury front Thursday, with running back Jahmyr Gibbs and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown both fully back at practice before Sunday’s NFC North matchup with the unbeaten Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field.
Both had sat out Wednesday. Gibbs was listed with a shoulder injury and St. Brown with an ankle problem he picked up in Sunday’s 20-17 win over Green Bay. All seven players who missed Wednesday were full participants a day later, the team’s Thursday report showed.
Losing Gibbs would have hurt. Through six games he has handled 53% of Detroit’s offensive touches, with 166 carries and catches, and produced 890 scrimmage yards, nearly 36% of the team total.
Running back Jacob Saylors, who has a neck issue, also moved up to full work after a limited Wednesday.
Safety Kerby Joseph stayed limited with his knee but practiced for a second straight day. The Lions opened his 21-day practice window this week while he remains on the physically unable to perform list, and coach Dan Campbell plans to build up his workload slowly. Cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. was also limited with an ankle injury.
