DETROIT, Mich. — A Chesterfield Township man, 42, is being held after federal prosecutors in Detroit charged him with threatening to kill FBI Director Kash Patel and a person close to Patel.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit, which is prosecuting the case, filed the charge against Anthony Daniel Palazzolo on Oct. 30. A criminal complaint says that on Oct. 8 he wrote to the associate through Facebook, claiming he had arranged a hit on that person and that Patel would be killed as well.
Investigators say the threats did not stop after the FBI interviewed him. Palazzolo is accused of repeatedly calling an agent at the FBI office in Detroit and warning that he would show up there and use deadly force on the government officials inside.
After a first court appearance before a federal judge in Detroit that Friday, he was kept in custody. A detention hearing is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 2. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eaton Brown is handling the prosecution.
A criminal complaint is an accusation, and Palazzolo is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
